Accept Death

Death is human’s greatest fear (well, some say public speaking). I was born in a typical Asian family, death is taboo to be mentioned freely and even joke about. I also learned that death, especially in the young age is unacceptable. Therefore, some Chinese families believe that the elderly are refrained from attending the funeral for the young one. I find it kind of sad, as the parents of my neighbor did not see their son the last time when he died at 16.

There was once I was shocked to know that a friend of mine could not take ‘goodbye’ as a farewell. He only likes to say ‘see you’ or just walk away without a word. He just could not handle the emotion within.

Death is part of our life. No matter how much we avoid it, death will still occur. Do you realize that the more we resist in a conflict, the more hurtful it is within? It is easier for us to let go of the resistant and ACCEPT DEATH when it comes.

It is just like giving sexual intercourse lesson to a group of teenagers. If you banned them from talking about it since birth, it is more uncomfortable when you start teaching them of having protected sex at their later age. Therefore, accept death it is, so that when death happens in a family or friend, it would not be too over whelming to handle for those who left behind.

This is like so painful to look at someone who is 70 and trying to look like 30. And it is so peaceful to look at others who age naturally and gracefully. Accept it is and enjoy every phase in your life.

Once you have accepted death it is and let go of your resistance, you will find that you handle death better when it takes place and you live life blissfully as free of fear.

ACCPET DEATH IT IS.
